Forest Post x CraftHER 2025: When Learning Flows Both Ways

Forest Post x CraftHER 2025: When Learning Flows Both Ways

At Swara, we believe that real leadership is forged not just in classrooms, but in kitchens, workshops, and villages, where learning flows both ways. That’s what happened when our CraftHER 2025 scholars spent a week with Forest Post in Athirapally.

For Manju, founder of Forest Post, the week was more than just student visits. It was about connection, confidence, and the kind of knowledge exchange that lingers long after the program ends.

“It went really well. The students were very responsible and mindful. The suggestions they gave, especially on social media, were thoughtful and not over-ambitious. They didn’t want to make us feel overwhelmed. They made it so accessible, and they were really lovely children.”

What moved her most was the impact on the women artisans.

“Our women often feel they don’t know enough, that they are backward. But with students like this, it helps them in confidence-building. That is the most amazing dimension.”

The week wasn’t just about consulting or ideas. It was about sharing life. Cooking together. Making lip balms. Managing the inevitable chaos of daily work, side by side. These everyday moments became the heart of CraftHER.

“Even after the girls left, the women were still talking about the interactions. It really made an impact.”

When asked what she would change, Manju’s answer was simple: keep it the same.

“I think we should do it exactly the same way. The flow was right. The only thing is, maybe more online preparation before they come, so they aren’t surprised by everything. Nothing can prepare them like talking to us directly, so even one online session just before they arrive would help.”

For Forest Post, CraftHER 2025 wasn’t just a program week. It was a reminder that knowledge can be shared in kitchens, forests, and workshops as much as in classrooms and that when young people and grassroots women come together, both walk away stronger.

✨ At Swara, we hold these lessons close as we look ahead to CraftHER 2026 — because the best ideas come from listening deeply, and building futures together.
